It seems everyone is joining the fun and jumping into the cannabis world, even — no, especially celebrities. It’s no secret that certain celebs have long advocated for legalization of medical and recreational cannabis use: Snoop Dogg, Woody Harrelson, Bob Marley, and Willie Nelson, to name a few.

Celebrity “roll” call

Some other celebrities involved in the business side of bud might surprise you. For example, Roseanne Barr is investing in a dispensary in Santa Ana, California. Or how about Cliff Robinson, the former University of Connecticut basketball star who was known as “Uncle Cliffy”? He has recently trademarked the name “Uncle Spliffy” and plans to open a grow operation in Portland, Oregon.

Rocker Melissa Etheridge picked David Crosby as her children’s biological father, so she was certainly no stranger to folks who consumed cannabis. After her bout with cancer, she became a vocal advocate for the legalization of medical cannabis and its cancer-fighting properties. In May of 2015 she released a line of cannabis-infused wine. Production has been ramping up, but prices are still considerably high. No Two-Buck Chuck, this wine, but it’s got to be great!

Whoopi

There may not be a more outspoken advocate on women’s issues, human rights, and medical cannabis than Whoopi Goldberg, though some may find it surprising that she is taking part in the business side of it. Whoopi and Maya is the name of the company. Maya Elisabeth, a long-time proponent and medibles chef, has partnered with Whoopi to create a line of edibles, topical ointments, tinctures, and a THC-infused bath additive. All are marketed to women for relief of menstrual cramps and the other symptoms of that time of the month affectionately dubbed PMS, for Partner Must Suffer.

Celebrity chef Mindy Segal is working with Cresco Labs to distribute her edible cannabis treats. Segal owns the Chicago fixture Mindy’s Hot Chocolate restaurant and plans to launch a line of chocolate brittles, granola bites, and hot chocolate infused with cannabis. The plan is to use cannabutter for all the recipes. If you don’t have access to her delicious goodies, never fear —  she is also the author of “Cookie Love”, a wonderful cookbook chock-full of tasty treats designed to delight.

It won’t not long before all 50 states legalize cannabis for medical purposes at least. Savvy investors, famous and not, are clamoring for ideas and products. Maybe you or someone you know can be the next big thing in the cannabiz world!
